Win more important than hattrick: Yuvraj

Johannesburg, May 18: Overjoyed to claim his second hat-trick in the IPL this year, Kings XI Punjab skipper Yuvraj Singh said not personal milestones but his team winning matches, would mean more to him.

Yuvraj claimed three wickets of Herschelle Gibbs, Andrew Symonds and Venugopal Rao to return with figures of three for 13 and lead his team to one-win against Hyderabad Deccan Chargers here yesterday.

“Well, the win was very important for us. It was a collective team effort. It was an interesting game. Hat-trick is not as important as winning the game. I was happy that I got the second hat-trick of this tournament,” Yuvraj said.

However, the all-rounder said he did not realise that he had already claimed the hat-trick and it was only after he looked at the giant screen that he came to know about the milestone.
“I actually didn’t realise. I didn't know, because Gibbs was out off the last ball. So I was thinking I have a hat-trick ball, so I had a slip and a silly point in. Then I bowled a ball and I thought I missed my hat-trick, it didn’t matter. Then I read on the screen that I have got a hattrick,” he added.

Well aware of Rohit Sharma’s exploits with the bat, Yuvraj also praised Irfan Pathan, who bowled well to restrict the Chargers just one run short of the Kings XI total, which also included the wicket of the Mumbaikar.

“I knew Rohit played few more balls, we would have lost the game. Because he was batting so well. Last game also he batted brilliantly. He took his team home from nowhere and today he did the same.”
