Sports reporter
GUWAHATI, April 1 - The diamond jubilee celebration of the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) got off to a colourful start today.

The eight-month long celebration began with a mass jogging here this morning, which was flagged off, by former Indian Test and One-day international player Maninder Singh at the Nehru Stadium here. The mass jogging was followed by ACA’s flag hoisting and paying homage to the departed souls who were associated with the State cricket body.

In the flag-off function the former Indian cricketer, who captured 88 wickets in 35 Tests and 66 wickets in 59 ODIs, lauded the efforts of ACA in improving the standard of the game. He, however, advised the organisers and the players, particularly the youngsters, to emphasise more on days matches than the limited over ones.
