Flintoff assures Team Chennai of availability

CHENNAI: Kevin Pietersen may have gone on record saying that he is not sure about turning out in the Indian Premier League, but Andrew Flintoff has assured the Team Chennai bosses that he'll be available for the tournament.

"We had got in touch with Andrew even on Sunday and he has told us he'll be available for the tournament," a Team
Chennai source told the TOI.

The burly all-rounder reportedly said he isn't too concerned with the security either and reposed full faith in the measures that the team management will take for the tournament.

Flintoff, of course, was a part of the England team that played in Chennai during the two-Test series that took place right after the Lahore attack.

Lalit Modi, the IPL chairman, has said that they'll follow the Chennai model of security for the tournament and that is bound to make Flintoff more confident.

The source also pointed out that Flintoff is steadily recuperating from the injury that he sustained during the Test series against the West Indies.

"He will go back to the West Indies very soon for the One-dayers. Freddie told us he will be fit for the IPL as well," the source added.

According to the source, none of team's foreign recruits - which also include Jacob Oram, Albie Morkel and Michael Hussey - have expressed any reservations about playing the tournament.
