Uncertainty over IPL final after cancellation of CCI EGM

Mumbai, Feb 19 (PTI) There's a cloud of uncertainty over the conduct of the final of this year's Indian Premier League at the Cricket Club of India here following the cancellation of the February 27 EGM due to opposition from the members.

The tradition-bound CCI had asked its members to say yes or no for hosting matches of the twenty20 event, including the final, at its Brabourne Stadium through the EGM.

But in the wake of strong opposition at the Open session held to explain the demands of the IPL, the EGM itself has been shelved.

"The EGM has been cancelled because of opposition from the members," said a CCI source.

The EGM was convened by CCI to decide whether to give or deny IPL "the exclusive use of the whole or substantially the whole of the Club House for their (IPL's) invitees, guests and cricket officials for a limited duration before, during and after match days." Rajasthan Royals, winners of the title in the inaugural year of the event, have the option of conducting the title clash this year on a revenue sharing formula with the IPL and have chosen Mumbai to host it, with CCI being their first choice.
