Pak players are demanding that their contracts with the PCB (Pakistani Cricket Board) be suitably amended. The players would have been expecting a certain amount of remuneration factoring in the IPL earnings, failing which their financial circumstances now stand considerably altered. Players such as Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shahid Afridi and Umar Gul will be considerably affected due to their inability to attend the IPL this year and will miss the opportunity for making quite a lot of money, so perhaps this should be a consideration when drafting their contracts with PCB.
If you have been following the cricket news coverage at Cricket360.com you will be aware that the IPL this year will be sans the Pakistani cricket players. The Pakistani players can’t have been very pleased at having been deprived on a very lucrative and prestigious forum in which to display their cricketing talents and to gain valuable international cricket experience and exposure at the same time. Now the Pak players are demanding that their contracts with the PCB (Pakistani Cricket Board) be suitably amended. The players would have been expecting a certain amount of remuneration factoring in the IPL earnings, failing which their financial circumstances now stand considerably altered. The players are keen to discuss this with PCB Chairman Ejaz Butt. One source was quoted in the cricket news as saying “Among the leading players, Shoaib Akhtar and Shoaib Malik have signed their contracts, the rest are juniors or not regular members of the national side. But 13 of them are reluctant to sign the contracts now,” one source said. Players such as Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shahid Afridi and Umar Gul will be considerably affected due to their inability to attend the IPL this year and will miss the opportunity for making quite a lot of money, so perhaps this should be a consideration when drafting their contracts with PCB.Former Pak player Wasim Akram has also implied that it is the fault of the PCB that the players would not be able to attend the IPL this year; that it was the PCB’s call and not that of the Foreign ministry. So if the PCB is indeed responsible for having prevented its players from attending the IPL, then it should also reimburse them in some or other way for the same. source: http://www.cricket360.comFriday, February 6, 2009
